CMS 10.6 Publishing DITA Content via Workflows

Prerequisites:

Use the workflow transition actions feature to publish DITA content directly in the Oxygen Desktop Plugin. When users advance DITA content through a workflow transition that automatically executes DITA publishing, the Configure DITA Publishing dialog provides configurable settings for the publish.

When users run the publish, the system executes the DITA publishing pipeline transformation process on the map and its dependencies in the CMS.

Note
This Oxygen Desktop Plugin Configure DITA Publishing dialog provides functionality similar the dialog of the same name within the CMS application. See Publishing DITA Content for details.
To publish DITA content via Oxygen Desktop Plugin workflow:
  1. Select checkboxes the DITA maps you want to include in the publish via the Configure DITA Publishing dialog that displays.

  2. Configure the publishing settings for each DITA map included in the publish. Display the settings in the Details pane by selecting the checkbox associated with the DITA map.
    Note
    The file name of the DITA map directly above the Transformation Output Formats list in the Details pane.

  3. Select or clear output formats in the Transformation Output Format list.
    You can select the checkbox directly to the left of the Transformation Output Format list title to select all available output targets.
    Note
    The system displays available options based on the output formats administrators selected in Administration > DITA > Output Formats. For top level maps, the system requires the normalized DITA output format to be selected.
  4. Select or clear DITVAL options to include in the output via the Optional DITAVAL Variations list.
    Chosen DITAVALs display in the Applied DITAVALs list. When the publish executes, the DITA-OT publishing pipeline will use these DITAVALs to process the output content.
    Additional Information
    Keep the following in mind.
    • You can select the Search button for the Optional DITAVAL Variations list to search for available DITAVALs.
    • You can select the checkbox directly to the left of the Optional DITAVAL Variations list title to select all available DITAVALs for output.

  5. If you include DITAVALs, select or clear the Skip output that excludes conditional processing checkbox.
    This option is selected by default. If you select this option, the DITA-OT only generates final outputs with the selected DITAVALs applied for conditional processing. The DITA-OT doe not generate a final output where the DITAVAL is omitted.

    If you clear this option, the DITA-OT generates final outputs with the selected DITAVALs applied for conditional processing, and the DITA-OT also generates a final output where all DITAVALs are omitted from processing.

  6. Select Ok.
    The system executes the publish, running the DITA-OT transformation process within the CMS.
