Moving Alias Structures in Site Tree

Users can move alias structures after creating them within the Site Tree. For example, users can move the whole alias structure from underneath one site page to another.

Note
Alias structures reflect the order of files referenced within the aliased DITA map structure. To reorder aliases within existing alias structures, the DITA map content requires editing. See Creating and Modifying DITA Topics for details about tools to edit DITA content.

When moving alias structures, keep the following in mind:

  • Alias structures can only exist under pages, components, and folders in the Site Tree.
  • Alias structures can be siblings of, pages, components, folders, or other alias structures.
  • Multiple (i.e., reused) alias structures generated from the same DITA content cannot reside under the same direct parent in the Site Tree.

For example, let's say a user wants to move two alias structures for the DITA content getting-started.ditamap. The CMS prevents these two alias structures from residing under the same parent page. The CMS requires these alias structures to reside under separate parents.

Users can move alias structures by dragging and dropping them or by cutting and pasting them in the Site Tree.
