A Comprehensive Guide to Using the Ingeniux DITA Publishing Pipeline
The Winter 2025 release of the Ingeniux DITA Publishing Pipeline expands and improves upon the initial version by delivering DITA versioning, improvements to the DITA Map Manager, and DITA localization rendering features. Learn how to use the DPP - from configuring the CMS to publishing and validating content - in our new video tutorial series.
First introduced in Fall 2023, the DITA Publishing Pipeline (DPP) streamlines the end-to-end process of creating, managing, and delivering structured DITA content without leaving the Ingeniux CMS.
Ingeniux’s integrated pipeline means less fragmentation and more efficiency for technical documentation teams:
- Speed: Incremental updates reduce publishing time.
- Flexibility: Multiple output formats and dynamic personalization.
- Control: Fine-grained management via DITA-OT versions and plugins.
- Convenience: Authoring, management, publication—all within a single CMS.
- Reuse: Modular content approach, minimizing duplication of effort and enforcing consistency.
This winter, we delivered a subsequent release that expands and improves upon the initial version by delivering DITA versioning, improvements to the DITA Map Manager, and DITA localization rendering features. Our latest video tutorial series provides a comprehensive guide to using the DPP - from configuring the CMS to publishing and validating content.
Updates & Improvements in the New DPP
The Winter 2025 release introduced significant enhancements to the DITA Publishing Pipeline, improving accuracy, localization, error handling, and performance.
Key updates include:
- Version-Aware Publishing: The pipeline now honors the specific version of DITA content marked for a publishing target—no longer defaulting to the latest version—improving content and dependency management.
- Localized Rendering Support: Administrators can now define locale-specific rendering schemas, ensuring that published content aligns with regional language variants.
- Stricter Dependency Validation: Publishing and previewing are halted if unmarked dependencies exist, enforcing a more reliable and complete content publishing process. However, users can always preview the latest version of the content, regardless of publish marking status. This ensures users can review their latest updates before finalizing publishes.
- Improved Alias Handling: The system no longer generates aliases for "resource-only" items and now requires alias URL pathing to be explicitly enabled for publishing targets.
- Performance Enhancements: Optimizations were made to the DITA Map Manager, Dependency Structure view, DSS navigation builder, and UI components for more responsive workflows.
- User Experience Fixes: Improvements to the Configure DITA Publishing dialog, deletion behavior, and UI synchronization help ensure smoother, more intuitive operations.
- Error Resolution: The update addresses some edge case errors, such as alias generation conflicts, unregistered settings, and .NET exceptions tied to non-aliased DITA topics.
