CMS 10.5: "Rename" Keyboard Shortcut Ignores Checked-In Status

If users press the "Rename" keyboard shortcut on a content item or asset, CMS 10.5 renames the item, no matter whether the item is checked in or checked out to another user.

Statement of Issue

In CMS 10.5, you can use a keyboard shortcut to rename content items and assets without checking them out, which may cause security and collaboration conflicts.

If you press CTRL+Shift+R on content items or assets, the CMS allows you to carry out the rename action, no matter whether the item is checked out to another user or is checked in.

Caution

This keyboard shortcut action takes effect on the last item you selected. This means that, if you press the rename shortcut without making a selection, the CMS will apply your rename changes to your last selected item.

Resolution

CMS 10.6.308 resolves this issue. Consider upgrading.
