CMS 10.6: Numerous Taxonomy Categories and Associations Increase Incremental Publish Time
The duration of CMS 10.6 incremental publishing operations may take excessively longer to process when the Taxonomy Tree includes 10,000 or more categories, each with hundreds of associations to content and asset items.
Statement of Issue
When the Taxonomy Tree contains approximately 10,000 or more categories, each with hundreds of associations to content and asset items, CMS 10.6 incremental publishing operations may take longer to process. This performance impact results from the additional time required to process all taxonomy associations during the publish.
Symptoms
A single incremental page publishing action's Taxonomy Tree and associations generation step may take excessively longer (observed to be 3+ minutes for this step in the publish, depending on content) when:
- The Taxonomy Tree includes approximately 10,000 or more categories.
- Hundreds of associations between categories and content items exist throughout the CMS.
