CMS 10.6.308–10.6.378: Custom Action Alert Prevents Saving Workflow Transition Changes

In CMS 10.6.308–10.6.378 Workflows Designer, an error alert prevents you from saving changes to transitions with a custom action, even if you did not modify the custom action.

Statement of Issue

An error alert prevents you from saving new changes to CMS 10.6.308–10.6.378 workflow transitions with a custom action, indicating one of the transition actions is missing information. This alert displays on save, even if you did not make new changes to the transition actions.

Important

This issue only occurs if the workflow transition contains a custom action and at least one other action. The "missing information" alert correlates to the custom one.

Symptoms

The custom action alert occurs when you complete the following steps:

  1. Go Administration > Workflows Designer.
  2. Open the workflow you want to edit.
  3. Double-click a transition that contains the following:
    • A custom action.
    • At least one other action of any type.
  4. Edit one or more fields in the Information tab of the Workflow Transition Editor dialog.
  5. Click Save Current Item or click Save and Close.

The custom action Alert displays, preventing you from saving your edits.

Information missing in Action items, please fill them in first before saving.

Resolution

CMS 10.6.492 resolves this issue. Consider upgrading.

Workaround

As a CMS 10.6.30810.6.378 workaround, you can bypass the alert by deleting then re-adding the custom action to the transition.

If you encounter the alert while saving new workflow transition changes, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Actions tab, then expand the custom action entry in the Workflow Transition Editor dialog.
  2. Copy the custom action field value.
  3. Click the Remove (trash) icon on the custom action.
  4. Click Add New Transition Action > Custom.
  5. Place your cursor in the new custom action field, then paste the value you copied from the removed custom action.
  6. Click Save and Close.

The CMS saves your transition changes, including the new custom action.
