CMS 10.6.308–10.6.342: DITA Preview Cache Cleared When Using Actions Menu

Running actions from the DITA Preview Actions drop-down menu will automatically clear all your DITA Preview caches in CMS 10.6.6.308–10.6.342.


Statement of Issue

Selecting any action aside from Refresh in the DITA Preview Actions drop-down menu will automatically clear all your DITA Preview caches in CMS 10.6.308–10.6.342.

Symptoms

  1. Navigate to Assets > Asset Tree.
  2. Select a DITA asset containing a DITA Preview cache and go to the DITA Preview tab.

    The Select DITA Preview Generation Scope dialog displays.

  3. Ensure at least one map scope option indicates a checkmark ✓ in the Pre-Rendered column, then either run a preview or click Cancel.
    Troubleshooting

    If a checkmark ✓ does not display, run a DITA preview to generate the cache. After the preview processing completes, reopen the dialog.

  4. In the top-right corner of the DITA Preview tab, click any action aside from Refresh in the Actions drop-down menu.

    After the action completes, the Select DITA Preview Generation Scope dialog displays.

Note the Pre-Rendered column no longer contains the checkmark ✓. This indicates the CMS cleared the preview cache.

Resolution

CMS 10.378 resolves this issue. Consider upgrading.

Workaround

To prevent the inadvertent removal of DITA preview caches, do not use the DITA Preview Actions menu in CMS 10.6.308–10.6.342. Carry out these actions from the Asset Tree context menu instead.
