CMS 10.6.378: Error Prevents Previewing Top-Level DITA Maps

Statement of Issue

When you click the DITA Preview or XML tab on a top-level map (i.e., a DITA map that does not have any usage reference dependencies listed in the Used By tab), an error displays, preventing the preview of the map structure from generating in CMS 10.6.378.

Symptoms

The following error message displays when you attempt to preview a top-level DITA map:

Cannot find any DITA maps that reference this content. Cannot preview content.

This error prevents the Select DITA Preview Generation Scope dialog from displaying.

Resolution

An upcoming CMS release will resolve this issue.

Workaround

As a workaround, complete the following steps:

1. Create a DITA map.
2. Reference the map you want to preview within the new map, then save your change.

   The CMS will recognize the new map as the top-level one. If you go to the Used By tab of the map you want to preview, the new map will be listed as a usage reference.

   Note

   CMS 10.6.378 accounts for dependencies based on the DITA asset's latest version and versions marked to publishing targets. If previewing the map based on publishing target, ensure the latest version of the new map is marked to that target to avoid the unmarked asset error during preview processing.

3. Go to the DITA Preview or XML tab of the map you want to preview.

   The CMS error will no longer occur, allowing the Select DITA Preview Generation Scope dialog to display.
