CMS 10.6.498: Publishing Halts or Remains in Publishing Queue
In CMS 10.6.498, in-progress publishes can occasionally halt, or the publishing queue can grow because of a null reference in an enqueued publishing task.
Statement of Issue
You may expereience a situation in CMS 10.6.498 where publishes halt mid-process, publishing queues grow in size, or the Publishing Monitor becomes unresponsive.
Symptoms
You may encounter a scenario similar to the following:
- An ongoing publish appears stuck on a particular publishing step
- Publishes remain enqueued and do not process, and the CMS Publishing Monitor becomes unresponsive to user interaction.
An error in the CSAPI logs may indicate a null reference to a publishing task in the queue.
Resolution
There is no resolution or root cause at this time, and Ingeniux Support and Engineering are monitoring reports of this issue as they are submitted and are working on reproduction steps internally. These symptoms are rare, and we have not yet ruled out possible environmental factors that may contribute to these publishing issues.
Workaround
To workaround the issue:
- If a publish appears stuck or does not continue to complete publish steps, cancel the publish in the CMS Publishing Monitor. resolves the issue.
- If enqueued publishes do not process, recycle the CMS application pool to clear the queue.
Important
Recycling the application pool flushes all queued publishing tasks. After the recycle, ensure you resubmit those publishes for processing.
