Working with Keymatches in InSite Search for Ingeniux CMS
Optimize search results in Ingeniux CMS with Keymatch in InSite Search. Learn how to configure and manage Keymatches to guide users to specific content, improving search accuracy and user satisfaction.
Keymatch is a powerful feature within Ingeniux CMS's InSite Search that allows website administrators to manually associate specific search queries with predetermined results or actions. By utilizing Keymatch, administrators can prioritize and tailor search results to ensure that particular keywords or phrases lead users directly to the most relevant content, redirect them to specific pages, or trigger predefined actions. This level of customization enhances the search experience, improves the accuracy of search results, and guides users efficiently to the information they need, thereby boosting overall user satisfaction and search usability.
Keymatch results operate independently from the general search index and can be customized to align with specific search result needs. This flexibility allows for fine-tuning of the search functionality to better meet the goals of the website and its users.
Managing Keymatches
Administrators can manage Keymatches through the configuration interface in the InSite Search settings. This section allows for both the importation of existing Keymatches from a CSV file and the manual addition and editing of individual Keymatches.
Types of Keymatches
There are three primary types of Keymatches that administrators can configure:
Keyword Match
Triggers when the specified search term appears anywhere in the search query.
Example:
If you create separate Keyword Matches for "Abraham" and "Lincoln," the search query will trigger a match if either "Abraham" or "Lincoln" is present. If your keyword match is set to "Abraham Lincoln," the search query must include both "Abraham" and "Lincoln" to trigger the match.
Phrase Match
Activates when the exact phrase, including the order of words, appears in the search query without any intervening words.
Example:
If the search query is "Abraham Lincoln," "President Abraham Lincoln," "Abraham Lincoln president," or "young Abraham Lincoln," it will trigger a Phrase Match. However, "Abraham the Tall Lincoln" would not match because the phrase "Abraham Lincoln" is interrupted by "the Tall."
Exact Match
The search query must exactly match the specified term, including the exact sequence and spacing of words.
Example:
Only "Abraham Lincoln" would trigger an Exact Match. Variations like "President Abraham Lincoln" or "Abraham Lincoln's" would not match.
Importing Keymatches
If you have previously used Keymatches with InSite Search, you may want to start by importing your existing Keymatches from a CSV file. Importing Keymatches into InSite Search allows you to integrate pre-existing search terms and their associated results into your website’s search functionality. This enables you to guide users to specific content when they search for particular terms, improving the relevance of search results. Once imported, you can manage these Keymatches manually through the InSite Search Administration in Ingeniux CMS 10.6 (or through the CSV file directly in previous versions) by editing, deleting, or adding new entries to fine-tune the search experience.
