Alias Context Menu Actions

Use Site Tree context menu actions on aliases. Users can open the context menu by right-clicking a content item, folder, or alias.

Available actions include:

Note

When users select aliases in the Site Tree instead of right-clicking them, the correlating DITA content opens in the Assets Manager main pane, and the Site Tree pane switches to read-only mode.

Action	Description
New > Alias	Creates aliases in the Site Tree from DITA assets in the Assets Manager. Note This action only displays in the context menu for pages, components, and folders. Ensure the Site Tree displays in active mode. See Alias Creation for details about creating aliases.
Refresh	Reloads the alias structure in the Site Tree. Note This action does not sync DITA asset updates to the correlating alias. See the Alias and DITA Content Updates entry for details to update aliases.
Cut	Adds the alias structure to the clipboard in preparation for moving the alias structure from the current location to a new one in the Site Tree. Note This action is only available for the top-level alias within the alias structure. See Moving Aliases for details about moving alias structures.
Paste	Pastes the cut alias structure from its original location to a new one in the Site Tree. Note This action only displays in the context menu for pages, components, and folders. Ensure the Site Tree displays in active mode.
Delete	Permanently deletes the alias structure from the Site Tree. Users cannot recover aliases after deletion. Note This action is only available for the top-level alias within the alias structure. See Alias Deletion for details.
Assign To...	Assigns the DITA content associated with the alias to a user or group. See Assigning Assets for details.
Check Out	Checks out the DITA content associated with the alias to the current user. See Checking Out Pages for details.
Check In	Checks in the DITA content associated with the alias to the publishing target of the user's choice. See Checking In Pages for details.
Undo Check Out	Backs the DITA content associated with the alias out of a checkout. When users undo a checkout, the DITA content reverts to its last state before the most recent checkout. See Undoing Checked Out Pages for details.
Rollback	Reverts all recent changes to the previously checked-in version of the DITA asset associated with the alias. See Rolling Back Pages for details.
Mark/Unmark for Publish	Marks or unmarks the DITA asset associated with the alias to publishing targets. The system publishes the marked DITA assets to the these targets during the next publish. See Marking Assets for Publishfor details about marking assets for publish. See Unmarking Assets for Publish for details about marking assets for publish.
Publish	Publishes the DITA asset associated with the alias. The system publishes the asset to its marked publishing targets. See Publishing DITA Assets for details about DITA publishing.
Update Alias Structure	Sync DITA asset changes to the correlating alias. Note This action only displays for aliases under the following conditions: manual DITA alias updates are enabled. the DITA content associated with the aliases contains new changes. See Alias and DITA Content Updates for details to update aliases.
