Setting Language for Single Pages

Administrators, see Translation Prerequisites for details.

If your Ingeniux CMS site contains content in multiple languages, you may want to specify the language content of folders, pages, and components via the Page Properties dialog or Properties tab.

The language used in a page or component is stored in its XML content and is available for development purposes. If not explicitly set, the language property for a given content item is, by default, inherited from its parent. After configuring publishing targets and completing a publish, changes to default language settings for pages are stored in the locale attribute of <Page> elements in the reference.xml file.

If content items have lingual mapping, the language can't be changed. Lingual mapping takes place when you initially prepare content items for translation (i.e., by creating a new region root, you provided a language to be translated in the Select Language dialog).
To set the language of a content item:
  1. Navigate to Site > Site Tree.
  2. Choose one of the following steps:
    • Right-click the content item and select Page Properties from the context menu in the Site Tree. The Page Properties dialog displays.
      • Open the Language tab.

        Set Page Language

    • Select the page in the Site pane.
      • Click the Properties tab and select WorldView in the Options menu. The WorldView Properties display.
  3. Begin entering the name of the language to use in the page in the Page Language field.
    Additional Information

The Page Language field displays as inactive under one or both of the following conditions:

    • The page has lingual mapping.
    • The page inherits the language of its parent folder, page, or component.
    • You lack permissions to set the language.
  4. Select a language from the drop-down list that matches your entry.
If the appropriate language does not display in the drop-down list, ensure the original language and all languages targeted for translation are added to the Available languages for page language settings list within WorldView Configuration.
    Version Notes: CMS 10.2+
In prior minor releases, changing the region root locale value required a full publish to apply locale changes to page descendants. In Ingeniux CMS 10.2+, this issue is fixed, so a full publish is no longer required.
  5. Click OK. The language associates with the page.
