Asset Field Types

In addition to asset schemas, the digital asset management system contains new asset element types for use in page schemas and component schemas.

See Adding Elements to Schemas for details about adding elements. When editing a page schema or component schema, locate these elements in the Fields tab of the Administration > Schema Designer > Create/Edit view.

Important
Upgrading to Ingeniux CMS 10.x converts your document, image, and media fields to asset fields.

The new asset element field types include the following for page and component schemas:

Asset

The asset element allows users with permissions to browse for and select an asset in the Select an Asset dialog. In Schema Designer, CMS users with permissions can limit the types of assets that content contributors can choose.

Configure the following fields:

FieldDescription
Field LabelEnter a friendly name for the element.
Tag Name (required)Enter the element's name, which displays in the schema.
AssetIf you enter an asset ID in this field, the asset becomes the default for this element.
Asset TypesThis field determines which asset types can be selected. If you leave the Asset Types field empty, then any asset type can be selected within the element.
Note
This option allows users to link to asset folders other than, for example, the pre-built, images, and media folders in the XHTML editor element.
Help TextText entered by an administrator or user with permissions to help content contributors enter a value for the element.
Note
In the Site Tree, the asset element's appearance differs depending on the type of asset you select. Thumbnails can be updated by administrators and users with permissions.

Asset LinkSet

The asset linkset element gives users the ability to select a list of assets and provide the list with a Title. For example, this could be a list of images for a slide show or videos for a playlist. In Schema Designer, the administrator can limit the types of selectable items available.

Configure the following fields:

FieldDescription
Field LabelEnter a friendly name for the element.
Tag Name (required)Enter the element's name, which displays in the schema.
TitleEnter a title for the asset linkset list.
ChoicesIf you enter an asset ID in this field, the asset saves as a predetermined choice for this element.
Node TypesDetermine which node types users can select (e.g., image, document). Use the pipe character (|) to delimit node types. If you leave this field empty, users can select any node type for the element.
Start NodesDetermine which asset folders users can access. Use the pipe character (|) to delimit node types. If you leave this field empty, users can select any node type in the element.
Help TextText entered by an administrator or user with permissions to help content contributors enter a value for the element.

Asset Navigation

The asset navigation element indexes all the items in a folder or in a collection of folders that all live under a parent folder. As with a normal navigation element, administrators can use Maximum Depth to limit how deep users can navigate, and Maximum Nodes to limit the number of returned items.

Note
To obtain the asset folder ID, you can hover over the folder in the Assets Tree.

Configure the following fields:

FieldDescription
Field LabelEnter a friendly name for the element.
Tag Name (required)Enter the element's name, which displays in the schema.
Maximum NodesLimit the number of items that return.
Maximum DepthDetermine how deep users can navigate.
StartNodeSelect a default asset folder.
Help TextText entered by an administrator or user with permissions to help content contributors enter a value for the element.

Asset Taxonomy Navigation

Pages and components use navigations to pull content from other sources in the CMS. Users can apply taxonomy to generate asset navigations. Use asset taxonomy navigations to return selective results.

For example, users can create asset taxonomy navigations to aggregate photos associated with taxonomy categories. Unlike standard navigation elements, taxonomy navigation doesn't rely on the hierarchical structure of the Assets Tree to return values.

Configure the following fields:

FieldDescription
Field LabelEnter a friendly name for the element.
Tag Name (required)Enter the element's name, which displays in the schema.
Start CategoriesSelect the default taxonomy categories. Use the pipe character (|) to delimit categories.
DepthSelect the default depth for users to navigate.
Page TypesDetermine which node types users can select (e.g., image, document). Use the pipe character (|) to delimit node types. If you leave this field empty, users can select any node type for the element.
Filter Asset FoldersSelect an asset folder ID to filter by default.
Include Assets checkboxIf selected, the element includes assets by default.
Help TextText entered by an administrator or user with permissions to help content contributors enter a value for the element.
