Unmarking Assets for Publish


Prerequisites: Administrators must provide users with asset publish marking permissions or administrator permissions. See Creating Groups for details.

Users can unmark asset items from individual publishing targets. Unmarking assets prevents them from being published to those publishing targets.

The Mark/Unmark for Publish UI differs depending on your CMS site version. Follow the steps that correspond with your version.

CMS 10.6

To unmark an asset item for publish:
  1. Navigate to Assets > Assets Tree.
  2. Choose one of the following steps.
    • Access the Change Content Publish Marking via the Assets pane.
      1. Select the asset item in the Assets pane.
      2. Select the Mark/Unmark for Publish button Mark/Unmark for Publish Button in the item's Overview tab toolbar.

    • Access the Change Content Publish Marking via the Assets Tree.
      1. Right-click the asset item or folder in the Assets Tree.

      2. Choose the option that corresponds with your selection.
        OptionDescription
        Mark/Unmark for PublishUnmarks for publish the selected asset item.

        This option only displays when you select an asset item.

        Mark/Unmark Descendant Assets for PublishUnmarks for publish asset items contained within selected folder and also the folder's descendant asset items (e.g., grandchildren).

        This option only displays when you select an asset folder.

      Note
      To select multiple, adjacent assets in the Assets Tree, drag your cursor across the assets you want to select. Otherwise, use Ctrl+Click to form a group of selected assets, no matter if they are adjacent or not, to unmark them for publish.

  3. Unmark asset items from particular publishing targets by selecting each target's respective remove (X) button in the Targets to Mark column.

    Tip
    Select X Unmark All Targets to unmark the asset items from all publishing targets.

    The CMS removes the cleared publishing targets from Targets to Mark column, indicating that the asset items are no longer marked for those targets.
  4. Select Confirm Publish Marking.

CMS 10.0–10.5

To unmark an asset item for publish:
  1. Navigate to Assets > Assets Tree.
  2. Choose one of the following steps.
    • Access the Change Content Publish Marking via the Assets pane.
      1. Select the asset item in the Assets pane.
      2. Select the Mark/Unmark for Publish button Mark/Unmark for Publish Button in the item's Overview tab toolbar.

    • Access the Change Content Publish Marking via the Assets Tree.
      1. Right-click the asset item or folder in the Assets Tree, and hover your cursor over the Mark/Unmark for Publish option in the context menu.

      2. Choose the option that corresponds with your selection.

        This option only displays when you select an asset item.

  3. Unmark asset items from particular publishing targets by clearing each target's respective checkbox in the Marked for Publish column.

  4. Select OK.
