CMS 10.6 Generating Publish Preview Reports via Site


Prerequisites:
  • CMS 10.6 must be installed. See CMS Statistics to check the site version.

  • Administrators must provide users with publishing permissions or administrator permissions. See Creating Groups for details.

  • Users must check in the content items they will publish. See Checking In Pages for details.

  • Users must mark the content items for publish to the appropriate publishing targets. See Marking Pages for Publish for details.


Users can use access the CMS 10.6 publish preview report feature to generate a report of content items, site folders, and asset items that the system will include in a publish. The system generates this publishing report fwithout executing actual publishes.

To generate a publish preview report:

  1. Navigate to Site > Site Tree.
  2. Choose one of the following steps.
    • Select the content item in the Site Tree, and select an option from the Publish button drop-down menu in the item's Edit tab toolbar.

    • Right-click the content item in the Site Tree, and select Publish (or, if applicable, an option from the Publish submenu) in the context menu.

    The Publish dialog displays.

  3. Select the Preview Publish - Gather information only checkbox.

    Only the Publishing Targets tab displays, and the Enable Replication checkbox becomes hidden.

  4. Select the publishing target for the publish preview report in the Publishing Targets tab.
    Note
    The CMS can only generate a publish preview report for one publishing target at time.
  5. Select one of the following options.
    Important
    With the Preview Publish - Gather information only checkbox selected, the system doesn't execute an actual publish. Instead, the system generates the publish preview report based on the publishing type you choose.

    Incremental

    In the publish preview report, only includes checked-in items that meet the following criteria:

    • The items are marked for publish to the selected publishing targets.

    • The items have modifications since the most recent publish, or the items contain modified dependencies since the most recent publish.

    Note
    You can execute an incremental publish for content that is marked but unmodified. See Publishing Types for details.

    Full

    In the publish preview report, includes all items in the Site Tree and Assets Tree that are checked in and marked for publish, regardless of any changes to the content.

    Note
    We recommend running full publishes for large-scale updates. Avoid running full publishes during peak business hours.

    The publishing scope for content items included within the publish preview report.

  6. Select the Pages to publish tab to display a list of site folders, pages, and components included within the publish preview report.

    If you execute an actual publish with the same publishing configurations you chose for the publish preview report, then the system will include the listed content items in that publish.

    Use the Filter field to search for content items and site folders by their xIDs
  7. Select the Asset to publish tab to display a list of asset items included within the publish preview report.

    If you execute an actual publish with the same publishing configurations you chose for the publish preview report, then system will include the listed asset items in that publish.

    Use the Filter field to search for asset item IDs.
  8. Optional: Select Download CSV to download the publish preview report details as a .csv file. This file contains details from both the Pages to publish and Asset to publish tabs.
  9. Select Close to exit the Publishing Preview dialog.
