Copying Component Content Units

How to Copy Component Content Units | Copy content from an existing component unit to a new content unit.

You may find that an existing component content unit is similar to one that you plan to build. Rather than creating a new content unit, you can copy an existing one as a starting point for the new one.

To copy a component content unit:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Presentation Content Units. The Management view displays.
  2. Select the Component Content Units tab.
  3. In the Component Content Units tab, select the component content unit that will serve as the base for the new one.
  4. Choose one of the following steps.
    • In the Actions menu, click Copy.
    • In the Actions menu, click Edit. The Create/Edit view displays. In the Content Unit Actions menu, click Make Copy.

    The Create/Edit view opens a New Content Unit area that populates with the schema fields of the selected component content unit.

    Note: Ingeniux CMS copies all content unit fields except for the Name, Field Name, and image thumbnail.

  5. Complete the process as you would when creating component content units, which includes your customizations for the new content unit.

    Note: Be sure to provide a unique Name and Field Name value for the new component content unit.

    Additional Info:

    If you plan to reuse the schema of the copied component content unit or if you apply a different component schema, keep in mind that you cannot add or remove elements from Administration > Presentation Content Units. You can, however, modify attributes of these schemas within the Presentation Content Unit area, such as the default value of the element.
