Performing Manual Replications
Prerequisites:
- See Publishing Prerequisites for details.
- Replication targets must be enabled and added. See Enabling Replication for details.
- Content must exist in the publishing target folder.
- The publishing target must be published at least once. See Publishing within Administration for details.
There may be times when administrators want to replicate files without publishing content. Only administrators can perform manual replications to copy files without publishing. This action is only available in the Publishing System.
To perform a manual replication on a publishing target:
- Navigate to Administration > Publishing System > Publishing Targets.
- Select the appropriate publishing target from the Managing Publishing Targets list.
- Click New Publish.
- Select Replicate Only.
- Select one of the following replication types:
- Standard: Conducts a one-way replication of all published items to the replication targets.
Additional Info:
- Standard replication type doesn't remove files. For example, if you execute a full publish, files that haven't been deleted from the replication source are not deleted from the replication target.
- Standard replication also executes when users publish content and perform replication in the Site Tree and Assets Tree.
- Clean: Deletes everything from the target folder before starting replication. This type essentially wipes out all metadata from the replication system.
Additional Info:
For example, if IIS resets in the middle of replication and corrupts the data, you can perform a clean replication to ensure the integrity of all replicated files.
Only administrators can perform clean replication.
- Standard: Conducts a one-way replication of all published items to the replication targets.
- Choose one of the following steps:
- Click Monitor Replications to view replication processes and logs.
- Click Close.
