Activity Stream displays the most recent messages posted in Status by each user and the actions that have been taken by other users since you last logged in.

Actions that are recorded include: checking in and out, moving, deleting, and publishing pages. These actions do not stay on the Dashboard, but are recorded in the logs permanently.
