Editing Roles

Prerequisites: Users require site administrator permissions to complete this task.

Edit the name and associated permissions of roles. In other areas of Cartella, users and groups can inherit or be assigned to roles for specific folios, sub-folios, and modules. Users and groups assigned to this role have access to the associated permissions.
You cannot edit built-in Cartella roles (e.g., Contributor, Folio Admin, Moderator, Sr Contributor).
If you select or clear the associated permissions, your saved changes apply to users and groups currently assigned to role. Assigned users and groups have access to selected permissions and no access to cleared permissions.
To edit a role:
  1. Log in to Cartella.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Roles.
  3. Choose one of the following steps.
    • Click Edit in the row's table row.

  4. Enter the name change in the Name field.
  5. Select or clear the following permissions in the Assign Permissions section:
    Is Folio Administrator

    Users assigned this role can:

    • Add, delete, or edit any item in a folio, sub-folio, or module.

    Can Moderate

    Users assigned this role can:

    • Edit or delete module items whether or not they created the content.
    • Approve or reject items created by users with the lowest permission level, Can Create Item.

    Can Create Approved ItemUsers assigned this role can:
    • Create items without the approval of an administrator or moderator.
    Can Create ItemUsers assigned this role can:
    • Create items.
    These items don't display publicly unless the site administrator or a user with moderator-level (e.g., Can Moderate or Is Folio Admin) permission approves the content.
    Roles associate with specific areas of Cartella (e.g., specific folios, sub-folios, and modules). Users and groups assigned to roles only have permissions in the specific area associated with the role.
    If all permissions are cleared, the user assigned to the role can only post comments on site content.
  6. Click Submit.
    Cartella saves the edits to the role. The Role Management view displays.
