Adding Synonyms to Taxonomy Categories

You can associate synonyms with Taxonomy Tree categories. Synonyms display other names for a category. The feature benefits customers who search website content for similar words that do not match the category nomenclature.

Publishing produces the taxonomytree.xml file, which is accessible through RTAPI for the ICMSCategory Interface.

CMS 10.6 Steps

To add a synonym to a category in CMS 10.6:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Taxonomy.
  2. Select the category to edit in the Taxonomy Tree.
  3. Click the Synonyms tab, and then click Add Synonym.
  4. Enter the synonym for the category in the provided field.

  5. Optional: Repeat these steps as needed to add additional synonyms.
  6. Click Save when you finish.
    Tip

    To remove the synonym from the list, click the trash icon

    to the right of the synonym term, and then click Save.

CMS 10.0–10.5 Steps

To add a synonym to a category in CMS 10.0–10.5:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Taxonomy.
  2. Select the category to edit in the Taxonomy Tree, and select the Synonyms tab.
  3. Enter the synonym for the category in the provided field.

  4. Optional: Click the add plus (+) button to add as many synonyms as needed.

    Each synonym added to the category displays in the Synonyms tab.
  5. Click Save when you finish.
    Tip

    To remove the synonym from the list, click the remove minus (-) button to the right of the synonym term, then click Save.
