Editing Users

How to Edit Users | Edit Cartella users' settings, permissions, locale-specific language.


Prerequisites: Users require site administrator permissions to complete this task.

Edit users to update their profile information, manage permissions, and configure the user's locale-specific language for the Cartella site instance.

If the user has a role and lacked the appropriate permissions from the User Settings area within the Edit User view, the user doesn't have access to permissions associated with their assigned role. For example, if the user has a folio administrator role for a folio and the Can Create Folio checkbox is cleared, the user cannot perform role-given folio administrator permissions until the Can Create Folio checkbox is selected.

To edit a user:
  1. Log in to Cartella.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Users.
  3. Choose one of the following steps.
    • Click Edit in the user's table row.

    • Click the user and select Actions > Edit.

  4. Edit the following fields in the Create User section:
    Field Description
    First Name User's first name.
    Last Name User's last name.
    Login Name User's account login ID.
    Important: The user enters this ID to log in to Cartella.
    Email Address User's email address associated with Cartella.
    Important: Verify the email. Cartella sends password notifications to this email.
    Image User's profile image. Upload an image file.
    Company User's company affiliation.
    Phone Number User's phone number.
    Note: The listed fields display by default. Available fields, field requirements, and field order may vary depending on the administrator's Manage Field settings for users. Fields in the Create User section display on the user's profile view.
    Note: Click Manage Fields to add, remove, or edit fields that display in this view. See Field Management for details.
  5. Clear or select the following permissions in the User Settings area:
    Permission Description
    Is Admin Allows the user to:
    • Create, edit, and delete all site content items.
    • Access locked folders and private entities (e.g., Settings).
    • Access Can Create Folio permissions.
    • Access Has Seat permissions.
    Warning: As an administrator, if you clear your own Is Admin permission, you cannot reinstate it.
    Fastpath: If applicable, use CTRL+Shift to select multiple users. Click the user and select Actions > Toggle Is Admin on the User Management view to select or clear administration permissions.
    Can Create Folio Allows the user to:
    • Create folios and modules.
    • Access Has Seat permissions.
    Has Seat Allows the user to:
    • Create and upload site content in areas where they have group- or user-given permissions.
    Note: A user with this permission counts against the licensed limit to seated users.
    Fastpath: If applicable, use CTRL+Shift to select multiple users. Click the user and select Actions > Toggle Has Seat on the User Management view to select or clear seat permissions.
    Note: If all permissions are cleared, the user can only post comments on site content.
    Restriction: Authentication System to Use cannot be edited.
  6. Select a locale-specific language in the User Preference Settings area.
    When saved, the Cartella user interface displays changes to the selected language.
  7. Click Submit.
    The user's profile displays.
