Resetting User Passwords

Prerequisites:

When users forget their passwords or are locked out of the CMS, administrators can reset passwords to restore access.

Version Notes: CMS 10.6.492 vs. CMS 10.0–10.6.378

CMS 10.6.492: All CMS accounts receive an email notification with a link to reset their password.

CMS 10.0–10.6.378: All CMS accounts receive an email notification with their newly assigned password.

To reset a user's password:
  1. Navigate to Administration > Users/Groups > Users.
  2. Select one or more user accounts from the Users list.
    Note
    To select multiple users, press Ctrl > Click to select individual users or Shift > Click to select a range of users. This lets you to reset multiple passwords at once.

  3. Click Reset Password in the top-right corner of the Users interface, then confirm the reset in the confirmation dialog.

    The CMS displays a notification dialog confirming that the reset started and the email was sent.

    CMS 10.6.492: All CMS accounts receive an email notification with a link to reset their password.

    CMS 10.6.492 Troubleshooting: If no email address exists in the user's Email field, if email is not configured for the CMS, or if another email issue prevents the CMS from sending the notification, the CMS displays the password reset link in the dialog to you directly within the pane. You can then provide the link to the user through alternative secure communication methods.

    CMS 10.0–10.6.378: All CMS accounts receive an email notification with their newly assigned password.

    CMS 10.0–10.6.378 Troubleshooting: If no email address exists in the user's Email field, if email is not configured for the CMS, or if another other email issue prevents the CMS from sending the notification, the CMS displays the new password in the dialog to you directly within the pane. You can then provide the password to the user through alternative secure communication methods.

  4. Click OK to close the notification dialog.
