Creating DEX Search Components

Prerequisites:

Use the preconfigured DEX component schemas to create InSite Search (ISS) Dynamic Execute (DEX) components in the Site Tree. Add the DEX search component to the appropriate search results page as part of the ISS DEX configuration process.

To create an ISS DEX component:
  1. Navigate to Site > Site Tree.
  2. Right-click the folder or content item to serve as the parent of the new DEX Search component. Select New > Component in the context menu.
    The Create New Component dialog displays.

  3. Complete the following fields:

    NameProvide a name of the component in the Name field.
    Select TypeSelect the appropriate DEX Search Component from the Select Type drop-down list.
    Important
    Each DEX search schema has a local and a remote version. The the local version ( the most commonly used version) assumes that the DSS project contains the search service. If the search service is on a server that doesn't contain the DSS, use the remote version.
  4. Click Create.
    The CMS creates the search component to include within a search results page.
  5. Edit the new DEX Search Component to suit your needs.
  6. When you finish, click Save.
  7. Create a page with your search results page schema.
  8. Open your search results page in the Site Tree. Navigate to the appropriate component element in the Edit tab.

  9. Click Select to browse for the DEX search component.
    The Select a Component dialog displays.
  10. Search for and select the new DEX search component in the dialog.
  11. Click OK.
    The DEX search component displays in the Component field.

  12. Check in the search results page.
