Performing Manual Replications

Prerequisites:

There may be times when administrators want to replicate files without publishing content. Only administrators can perform manual replications to copy files without publishing. This action is only available in the Publishing System.

To perform a manual replication on a publishing target:
  1. Navigate to Administration > Publishing System > Publishing Targets.
  2. Select the appropriate publishing target from the list, and click New Publish in the top-right corner of the Manage Publishing Targets pane.

    Publish Submitted Dialog

  3. Select Replicate Only, and select one of the following replication types:
    • Select Standard to conducts a one-way replication of all published items to the replication targets.
      Note
When running a standard replication, keep the following in mind:
      • Standard replication type doesn't remove files. For example, if you execute a full publish, files that haven't been deleted from the replication source are not deleted from the replication target.
      • Standard replication also executes when users publish content and perform replication in the Site Tree and Assets Tree.
    • Select Clean to delete everything from the target folder before starting replication. This type essentially wipes out all metadata from the replication system.

For example, if IIS resets in the middle of replication and corrupts the data, you can perform a clean replication to ensure the integrity of all replicated files.

      Note
Only administrators can perform clean replication.
