Installing Microsoft Filter Pack
The Microsoft Filter Pack interface is a component of the Microsoft Indexing Service. The Filter interface scans documents for text and properties. It extracts chunks of text from these documents, filtering out embedded formatting and retaining information about the position of the text. The Filter also extracts chunks of values, which are properties of an entire document or of well-defined parts of a document.
See the installation instructions on the Microsoft Site for details.
Additional enhancements were made in indexing of binary assets published from the CMS. In earlier InSite Search versions, the indexing of binary documents happened at the same time as the indexing of asset metadata. In InSite Search 2.13+, binary document indexing occurs after metadata indexing to reduce the amount of time for metadata search results to return.
This optimized indexing change applies to the following content indexing scenarios:
- The published content is from a CMS 10.3+ instance.
- Only a single CMS Search Source is configured for InSite Search.
If you are indexing content from CMS 10.2 or below, or if you have multiple CMS search sources to index, enable the Legacy Asset Indexing Mode by adding a custom setting to your CMS InSite Search configuration prior to upgrading your search package to 2.13+. You can add this custom setting from within the area.
Next Steps: Publish binary assets to include them in the search index. See Publishing Assets for details.
