Creating Aliases by Asset Tree


Users can add alias structures by accessing the Create Alias Structure action in the Assets Tree context menu.

Create alias structures for DITA assets using the Asset Tree context menu. Right-click any DITA map then select Create Alias Structure to begin the process.

To create an alias structure using the Asset Tree context menu:
  1. Navigate to Assets > Assets Tree.
  2. Right-click the DITA asset you want for the new alias structure root, then click Create Alias Structure.

  3. Select the site page, component, or folder that will serve as the parent for the new alias structure. Choose from these search options:

    Search for PageSearch for the item by entering its xID or name in the search field.
    Tip
    Select any search result to display its asset filepath.
    Select Page from Site TreeBrowse for the item t in the Site Tree.

  4. Click Create Alias.
    The Creating Alias confirmation dialog displays, asking you to verify the alias structure creation for the selected DITA asset under the chosen parent content item.
  5. Verify the DITA asset and Site Tree location are correct, then click Create.
    The new alias structure displays under the parent content item or folder in the Site Tree.

Task Troubleshooting:

Version Notes: CMS 10.6.492
CMS 10.6.492 displays only aliases marked to the publishing target in the Site Tree.

If the Site Tree does not display the new alias structure, verify that the aliased DITA asset root is marked to the target selected in the Site Tree publishing target filter.
