Deleting Aliases

Delete aliases from the Site Tree using the DITA Map Manager > Manage Aliases tab's deletion buttons. These buttons only remove the aliases from the Site Tree—their corresponding map remains in the Assets Manager.

Warning
The CMS permanently deletes DITA aliases without moving them to the recycle folder. Deleted aliases cannot be recovered. If you delete a root alias corresponding with a map, the CMS deletes the alias and any other aliases of DITA asset dependencies within that alias structure.
To delete an alias using the Manage Aliases tab:
  1. Navigate to Administration > DITA > DITA Map Manager.
  2. Select the DITA asset corresponding with the alias you want to delete then click the Manage Aliases tab.
  3. Choose to delete an individual alias or all aliases corresponding with the map:
    • To delete an alias, click the corresponding Delete Alias button Delete Alias in the Delete column.
    • To delete all aliases, click the Delete AllDelete All Button button in the toolbar.
    Troubleshooting
The CMS prevents deleting individual aliases nested within an alias structure. Alias structures operate as single units. Alias structures can only be deleted from their root alias.
A confirmation dialog displays, asking you to verify the alias deletion for the selected map.
  4. Click Delete to confirm the alias removal.
The CMS permanently deletes the alias(es) from the Site Tree.
