Checking Out/In DITA Assets from DITA Map Manager

While users with permissions can check out and check in DITA maps using the Asset Tree context menu, in some scenarios, there are distinct advantages to doing so from the toolbar of the DITA Map Details view in DITA Map Manager. The check out/in of a DITA map from the toolbar propagates this operation to all DITA map dependencies, includes all submaps, topics, DITAVAL files, and non-DITA resources such as images.
Caution
Exercise caution when using the Check Out and Check In actions in the Map Details tab, as they are batch operations that will affect the DITA map and all its dependencies. These actions will run immediately upon clicking. To individually check in or out the DITA map and its dependencies, use the Assets Tree context menu.
To check out/in DITA assets from a DITA map:
  1. Navigate to Administration > DITA > DITA Map Manager.
    The DITA Map Manager displays a list of all DITA maps in the CMS.
  2. Click the View Details button located to the left of the DITA map name to view information specific to that map.

    The DITA Map Details tab displays.
  3. Click one of the following in the DITA Map Details toolbar:
    • Click the Check Out button to check out the map and all of its checked-in dependencies.

      This button displays only if the map is currently checked in.

    • Click the Check In button to check in the map and all of its checked-out dependencies.

      This button displays only if the map is currently checked out.

    Note
    If the toolbar options do not display, click the in the hamburger menu to access the options.
    The Check Out/In DITA Map Collection dialog lists the DITA assets affected by the operation.
  4. Optional: Click Close to exit the Check out/in DITA Map Collection dialog
