Marking/Unmarking Maps from DITA Map Manager

Prerequisites:
  • Administrators must provide users with asset publish marking permissions or administrator permissions. See Creating Groups for details.
  • Users must check in the asset items they will mark for publish. See Checking In Pages for details.
    Caution
    The CMS requires users to check in new content items before they can mark the items for publish. This prevents incomplete content items from displaying in navigations. If users attempt to mark a new checked-out page for publish, the CMS generates the following error message: 
    Cannot mark a Content Item for publish that has no current version, this is probably because the Item has never been checked in: [a/ID].
From DITA Map Manager, administrators can mark or unmark DITA maps. Once a DITA map has been marked/unmarked, all of its dependencies inherit the new state.
To mark (or unmark) a map for publishing from the DITA Map Manager:
  1. Navigate to Administration > DITA > DITA Map Manager view.
    The main view, which contains an aggregate of all DITA maps under the DITA root folder, displays.
  2. Click the appropriate radio button to the left of each DITA map name to access details associated with each DITA map.
    The DITA Map Details view displays.
  3. In the DITA Map Details toolbar, click the Publish Marking button.

    To save space in the UI, the check out/in UI controls display on some devices as an option in the hamburger menu .
    The Change Content Publish Marking dialog displays.
  4. Select publishing targets in the Publishing Targets column.
    Tip
    Keep the following in mind.
    • You can select the Search button Search Button in the Publishing Targets column, and enter keywords in the field that displays to search for available publishing targets.
    • You can select the Toggle on Marking on All Targets checkbox to select all available targets for publish markings.

    The selected publishing targets display in the Targets to Mark column, and each selected publishing target associates with a Marked Version field. The system will mark the asset items for publish to the targets within this column.

  5. Use the Marked Version drop-down list for each respective publishing target to select the asset item version you want to apply to those targets.
    Tip
    If No Change text displays within the field, this indicates no recent changes were made to the content item version marked for the publishing target.
  6. Select Confirm Publish Marking.

Next Steps:

To unmark a map and all of its dependents:

  1. Unmark asset items from particular publishing targets by selecting each target's respective remove (X) button in the Targets to Mark column.

    Tip
    Select X Unmark All Targets to unmark the asset items from all publishing targets.

    The CMS removes the cleared publishing targets from Targets to Mark column, indicating that the asset items are no longer marked for those targets.

  2. Select Confirm Publish Marking.
