Alias Icons and Tags

The Site Tree uses icons and tagging to identify aliases, their DITA content types, content statuses, and other document properties.

Aliases in Site Tree

Each alias item in the Site Tree displays the DITA content icon . DITA items in the Assets Tree also use this icon. The icon turns blue when you check out the corresponding DITA content.

Hover over aliases in the Site Tree to view these details:

Data TypeDescription

Assigned ToThe user or group assigned to the aliased DITA content.
Version Notes: CMS 10.6.308–10.6.342
CMS 10.6.308–10.6.342 generate aliases for DITA map group domain elements such as <topicgroup>, <topichead>, or <topicset> in the Site Tree. These aliases display the container icon .

DITA map group element aliases correspond to their containing DITA map. These aliases provide a visual, header-only representation that indicate where group elements exist within the DITA map structure and, if applicable, their impact on map hierarchy.

Document Type Information

Select the Toggle Document Type Information button Toggle Document Type Information Button in the Site Tree to display DITA type tagging for aliases.

Note
The Asset Tree also offers this feature for all DITA content, whether aliased or not.

These tags indicate the document type associated with the aliased DITA content. Each tag specifies whether the alias associates with a DITA map, DITA topic, or other. If the alias associates with a DITA topic, then the tag specifies whether the topic type is a concept, task, reference, or other.

Alias Search Results

Users can search for aliases in the main CMS search or when they want to search for an alias to add as a link in site pages or components. Aliases are included under the Pages search filter.
