Identify Metadata Fields for AI Generation

Prerequisites: Page schemas must exist with plain text or XHTML elements that will serve as metadata fields.

For each page schema, configure metadata fields where users can leverage AI to generate field values.

These configurations determine which fields are available in the Metadata tab of the Ingeniux AI Generation app on site pages. Users can automatically populate them with AI-generated values, based on the existing page content.

To identify metadata fields for AI content generation:
  1. Navigate to Apps.
  2. Click the AI app from the list, then click the Metadata Fields tab.

    Metadata Fields Tab

  3. Choose one of the following steps:
    • Use AI to automatically identify metadata fields across all page schemas:
      1. Click the AI Assist button in the top-right corner of the tab.
        Caution
This action scans all page schemas in the CMS and auto-selects any detected metadata fields. Proceed with caution.

The Identify Metadata Fields with AI dialog displays.

      2. Select or clear the Preserve Any Manual Metadata Identification checkbox.

If cleared, Ingeniux AI generation will overwrite any metadata fields you've identified manually.

If selected, Ingeniux AI generation will auto-identify new metadata fields while preserving your previous manually identified metadata fields.

      3. Click Identify Metadata

The AI will scan all CMS page schemas, analyzing field labels, help text, and existing content patterns to determine which fields are likely metadata. During this scan, a progress bar will display, indicating the status with a count of schemas and fields being processed.

When complete, a confirmation message will indicate the number of fields identified by AI (e.g., 42 fields marked by AI as metadata).

      4. Review the identified metadata fields in each schema and make adjustments as needed.

In the Page Schemas list, the angle bracket icon Metadata Identified Icon displays on schemas with identified metadata fields.

    • Manually identify metadata fields:

      1. Click a schema from the Page Schemas list in the left pane.
        Tip
        • Use the Order by drop-down menu to sort the list based on name or modification date.
        • Use the search button to filter the schema list by name.

The main pane displays all fields within the schema where generative AI can be applied.

      2. Select the fields that will be treated as metadata where users will be able to apply AI-generated metadata values. If a field is cleared, users will be unable to generate metadata for that field using AI.
        Note
When you select a group of fields, the CMS automatically selects all fields within that group. On pages associated with this schema, the Metadata section of the Ingeniux AI Generation module will list the fields under their schema-defined group name.

A notification message displays after each field selection, indicating the schema field has been marked as metadata.

      3. Optional: In the notification, you can click Propagate to all schemas to apply your change to matching fields across all CMS page schemas.
        Caution
This action applies to metadata fields across all CMS page schemas that share the same label and group pathing. Proceed with caution.

For example, let's say you select the Keywords field in a page schema, then click Propagate to all schemas. If any other page schemas contain fields labeled Keywords with the same group pathing, this action will automatically mark those fields as metadata. "Same group pathing" means the paths must match in addition to the field label. Therefore, if the Keywords field is nested in a group and the other is not nested in that same group, this action will not apply to the field with the group pathing mismatch.

If you propagate your changes, a notification message displays when the process completes.

Task Troubleshooting:

  • If a field is not listed for an individual schema, verify the field has been added to the schema as either a plain text or XHTML editor field in Schema Designer. AI generation functionality is only available for these field types.
  • If the Identify with AI action inaccurately identifies fields as metadata, manually clear these fields then select the correct ones in the Details view.
  • If the Identify with AI action does not identify any fields as metadata, review your schema field labels and help text in Schema Designer. The Ingeniux AI System typically recognizes fields with names like "Meta Description," "Keywords," or "SEO Title" as metadata.
  • If the Propagate to all schemas action does apply to all matching field names, remember propagation only applies to fields with labels and group paths that match exactly. Fields with similar but not identical labels and paths will require manual identification.
  • If you modify the label or path of any metadata field in Schema Designer after it has already been specified in the Metadata Fields tab, you will need to reconfigure that field as a metadata field.

Next Steps: Verify the Metadata section of the Ingeniux AI Generation app displays all the identified metadata fields for corresponding pages in the Site Tree.

Note
Read-only fields will display as uneditable to users in the Metadata section of the Ingeniux AI Generation module.
