Alias Manager

Use the Manage Aliases tab in DITA Map Manager to view and manage aliases for the map.

Alias Manager Tab

Alias List

The Manage Aliases tab lists all aliases for the map. A single map can have mutliple aliases. For example, if the map is part of multiple DITA collections with separate alias structures in the Site Tree, the map will have multiple aliases.

Alias list information includes:

Name
Name of the alias. Clicking the name expands the Site Tree pane and automatically selects the corresponding alias in the tree.
Path
Path to the alias in the Site Tree. Clicking any name in the path expands the Site Tree pane and automatically selects the corresponding item in the tree.
Note
Underlined items are pages, components, or folders in the path. Items without underlining are aliases.
Examine Map
Click the View Alias Structure button Examine Map Button to open a dialog that displays the hierarchical alias structure, starting from the current alias. This dialog mirrors the structure of the referencing DITA map, but only displays the current alias and its descendants in the map hierarchy. The current alias always displays as the top-level item in this dialog.
Delete
Click the Delete Alias button Delete Alias Button to permanently delete the alias and the associated alias structure from the Site Tree. This button is only active for root-level aliases in a DITA alias structure. The CMS prevents deletion of aliases with parent aliases in the Site Tree.
Warning
This action deletes the entire alias structure.

Toolbar

Actions

Manage Aliases tab toolbar actions include:

Add Alias ButtonAdd Alias
Create an alias for the map in the Site Tree. For maps, the CMS creates an alias structure.

See Creating Aliases via Alias Manager for details.

Delete All ButtonDelete All
Permanently delete all aliases of the map and the associated alias structure from the Site Tree. This button is only active for root-level aliases in a DITA alias structure. The CMS prevents deletion of aliases with parent aliases in the Site Tree.

See Deleting Aliases for details.

CMS 10.6.492 Version Filter

The CMS 10.6.492Manage Aliases tab provides a drop-down menu to filter aliases based on the latest checked-in version or a version marked for a publishing target.

Aliases display in the Site Tree based on the selected publishing target. If an alias does not display in the Site Tree, verify the following:

  • The Site Tree publishing target drop-down has the correct target selected.
  • The alias displays in the map's Manage Aliases list for the appropriate publishing target version.

See CMS DITA Versioning Functionality for more details about DITA versioning.

Search

Use the Search Aliases field to search for aliases based on the name or path in the Manage Aliases list.

Examine Map Dialog

Click the the View Alias Structure button in the Examine Map column to view the structure associated with an alias. This dialog shows a composite view of the alias structure in a TOC-like format from the parent DITA map, reflecting the alias structure generated in the Site Tree.

This view shows only the structure starting from the current alias, not the entire alias structure. To view the complete alias structure from the top-level map or submap, open this dialog from that map.

Note
Click any item in the alias structure to navigate to that item in the Assets Manager.

This dialog displays alias hierarchy and indicates the status of each aliased DITA item from the Assets Manager. Key data types include:
