Moving Alias Structures in Site Tree

You can move existing alias structures to new Site Tree locations. For example, users can move the whole alias structure from under one site page to another.

Note
Alias structures reflect the order of dependencies referenced within the aliased DITA map structure. To reorder aliases within existing alias structures, the DITA map content requires editing. See Creating and Modifying DITA Topics for details about tools to edit DITA content.

Rules and Requirements

Remember these rules and requirements when moving alias structures:

  • You must have user group permissions to:
    • Manipulate pages, assets, the Site Tree, and the Asset Tree.
    • Manage aliases.
  • Alias structures can only exist under Site Tree pages, components, and folders.
  • Alias structures can be siblings of, pages, components, folders, or other alias structures.
  • The CMS prevents duplicate alias structures from the same DITA asset to exist in identical Site Tree locations. These alias structures cannot exist under the same direct parent in the Site Tree.
  • For example, if you the Site Tree contains two alias structures for getting-started.ditamap, the CMS prevents both structures from existing under the same parent page. Each alias structure must exist under separate parents.

Version Notes: CMS 10.6.492
CMS 10.6.492 displays only aliases marked to the publishing target in the Site Tree.

If the Site Tree does not display an alias structure, verify that the aliased DITA asset root is marked to the target selected in the Site Tree publishing target filter.

See CMS DITA Versioning Functionality for details about managing aliases with versioned DITA content.

Move alias structures by dragging them or by cutting and pasting them in the Site Tree.
