Upgrading Ingeniux CMS Site Instances to CMS 10.5–10.6

System administrators can upgrade Ingeniux CMS 9.x or CMS 10.0-10.3 site instances to CMS 10.6 or CMS 10.6. Keep in mind that the system retains the original name of the CMS instance after upgrade.

Note
When upgrading to a new version of the CMS, Ingeniux strongly recommends conducting a test upgrade via a copy of your CMS. Test upgrades can ease the transition to new CMS version. Consider conducting a test upgrade on a separate server outside your live environment. This may include a cloned virtual environment of your existing CMS or a client computer running IIS.
To upgrade an existing site instance to CMS 10.5–10.6:
  1. Follow the step that corresponds with your CMS site instance installation version.
    • Version Notes: CMS 10.6
      Navigate to Ingeniux CMS 10.6 > Ingeniux CMS Site Instance Wizard within your server's file system.
    • Version Notes: CMS 10.5
      Navigate to Ingeniux CMS 10.5 > Ingeniux CMS Site Instance Wizard within your server's file system.

  2. Select the Upgrade Existing tab.
  3. From the list, select the CMS 9.x instance (or the CMS 10.x instance prior to CMS 10.6 or CMS 10.5) to upgrade.

  4. Select or clear the Backup Raven Database checkbox.

    In CMS 10.6, the Backup RavenDB Database checkbox is cleared by default.

    In CMS 10.5, the Backup RavenDB Database checkbox is selected by default.

    When the checkbox is selected, the system backs up the Raven Database (RavenDB) instance on disk prior to the upgrade. For RavenDB 5.x upgrades from Ingeniux CMS 10.0-10.3 to 10.6 and for RavenDB 4.x upgrades from Ingeniux CMS 10.0-10.3 to 10.5, the system uses the backup to import the documents into the new RavenDB instance.
  5. Click Start.
    The Preview Site Binaries Update dialog displays.

  6. Click Yes if you want to rebuild the DSS Preview Project.
    The upgrade process proceeds to the Welcome screen of the wizard.

  7. Click Next.
    The Confirm Upgrade screen displays.

  8. If you want to confirm the upgrade and continue with the wizard, select Next.

  9. See RavenDB Certificates to configure RavenDB and its security certificate. Return to this page for steps to complete the wizard.
  10. Click Next to complete the upgrade.
