Checking Out/In DITA Assets from DITA Properties

While users with permissions can check out and check in DITA maps from the context menu of the Asset Tree, in some scenarios, there are distinct advantages to doing so from the toolbar of the DITA Map Details view in DITA Properties. Check out/Check in of a DITA map from toolbar propagates this operation to all DITA map dependencies, which includes all sub-maps, topics, and DITAVAL files.
Note
In addition to descending topic structures within the map, the check-out/in operation includes immediate sub-maps and their topics. However, this operation does not extend to maps deeper in the tree hierarchy than child sub-maps.
To check out/in DITA assets from a DITA map:
  1. Navigate to Assets > [DITA Map] > DITA Properties > Map Details view.
  2. In the DITA Map Details toolbar, click one of these buttons:
    • Check Out: To check out the selected map and its dependencies that are currently checked in.
    • Check In: To check in the selected map and its dependencies that are currently checked out.

    Note
    To save space in the UI, on some devices, the check out/in UI controls display in the hamburger menu .
    The Check out/in DITA Map Collection dialog lists the DITA assets affected by the operation.
  3. Optional: Click Close to exit the Check out/in DITA Map Collection dialog
